Let us nurture nature to have a nurturing future!

Environment plays an important role in healthy living and the existence of life on planet earth. Earth is a home for different living species and we all are dependent on the environment for food, air, water, and other needs. Therefore, it is important for every individual to save and protect our environment.

Waste generations by residents in the Philippines, especially in the urban areas, have accelerated recently due to fast pace industrialization, urbanization and population growth. Since incineration of solid waste is not allowed under Republic Act 9003 for the safety of human health and protection of environment, land filling and the 3 integrated waste management method (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) are the main types of SWM in the country. The law also requires the mandatory segregation at source of solid waste into containers labeled as: compostable, recyclable, non-recyclable, or special use.

Proper waste disposal is beneficial to the environment. Without it, the land and its underlying resources are prone to contamination. And contamination can lead to various diseases and other health concerns. In the past, it has been a common practice to burn waste at the landfill or in the backyard.

Think about how much waste you, one single person, goes through. From simply opening each ingredient that goes into your dinner to the gum wrapper you used earlier, you can begin to imagine how much waste is produced each day.

Without the solid waste disposal system we have available in our country, we wouldn’t have the clean and refreshing environment we have today.

One of the main reasons we feel so strongly about proper waste disposal is because of its positive contribution to the environment.

Not only does it keep our streets clear of any rubbish, but it also lowers any negative impact waste disposal may have.

If you are following proper waste disposal, you will send your junk to the right place. This goes beyond your average household rubbish and is also relevant to skip bins.

By using the right waste type and following the guidelines, you will be helping us make a positive impact on the environment. We reuse what we can from your skips instead of sending it to the landfill.

Solid waste management is a term that is used to refer to the process of collecting and treating solid wastes. It also offers solutions for recycling items that do not belong to garbage or trash. As long as people have been living in settlements and residential areas, garbage or solid waste has been an issue. Waste management is all about how solid waste can be changed and used as a valuable resource.

Solid waste management should be embraced by each and every household, including the business owners across the world. The industrialization has brought a lot of good things and bad things as well. One of the adverse effects of industrialization is the creation of solid waste.

Other ways we can do to protect the environment and reduce wastes are the following:

1. Donate clothes you don't use anymore.

2. Reduce Food Waste.

3. Shop wisely.

4. Follow the 3r's.

5. Avoid using single-use items.

Living in a clean environment makes life healthier, less

stressful, and more pleasant. It can improve the self-image

of residents and of the neighborhood as a whole. A

neighborhood that smells like garbage or looks like a dump is

an undesirable place to live and work.

Now let's help each other and recover mother earth!

MY HERO, MY FATHER, MY FRIEND

From plaiting our hair and carrying us on our shoulders as kids, to picking us up from parties as a teen and giving advice on cars and bills as adults, dads do a lot for us, and deserve to be treated  and Father’s Day is the perfect time to do just that.

Father's Day is a day when people honor the men in their lives. It is a day for children to express gratitude to their fathers and father figures. For adults, it is a day to express how much they love and appreciate their fathers and husbands. Although many of us celebrate Father's Day, we may be unaware of its origins. Surprisingly, this holiday was not widely celebrated at first. People eventually accepted the idea of fathers' influence on their families, particularly on their children's lives.

The celebration of Father’s Day reminds us about both the importance and the challenges of fatherhood. Fathers don’t always enjoy the glow of intimacy and admiration we give our mothers. Indeed, fathers have the cultural image of bread winner, disciplinarian, authority figure. When you were growing up, how often did you hear your mother say, “just wait until your father gets home!” Traditionally, our culture has often put fathers into a very difficult role. They must be aloof but intimate; must earn the wage, but be present; must be compassionate, but disciplinarian.

I salute all the wonderful fathers who have touched the lives of many people, be it their own kids, somebody else’s kid, family, people they have mentored, people they have coached and the world at large.

Thank you for being great fathers. We appreciate your existence and the impactful and significant role you have played in our lives.

Father is a person who lets you experiment life in your own way and pulls you up when you fall.

He lets you get angry on him and loves you more after that.

He lets you see things your own way and then gives his view point.

Is with you always, especially when you need him.

Let’s honour the dads who give everything to their families.

We can’t be in this world without our fathers. They have always been that one reliable man in our lives, and they have always treated us with a stern yet loving hand. We have always looked up to them as an inspiration through the years. We will never cease to follow their footsteps and will always make the right decision like they have taught us.

No matter how famous or successful we are, our first identity is that of someone’s son or daughter.

I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren’t trying to teach us. We are formed by little scraps of wisdom.

Our understanding of what “family” means also is evolving. Some of us have had the pleasure of being a godfather or “father figure” to younger family members who may have lost their biological father. Many children grow up in single parent homes with only a father or a mother. We have learned that it’s the love, care and presence that define fatherhood.

“Nationalism is nourished by a sense of history”: Araw ng Kasarinlan

Filipino independence struggle that, after more than 300 years of Spanish colonial rule, exposed the weakness of Spanish administration but failed to evict Spaniards from the islands.Independence of the Philippines was a mighty feat.

On independence day, the sacrifices of the national heroes are remembered, the country's sovereignty is appreciated, instilling nationalism in the citizens, as well as celebrating the culture and tradition of its people. The Philippines gained its independence from Spain in 1898 after a long and bloody war.

Independence Day (Filipino: Araw ng Kasarinlan; also Araw ng Kalayaan, lit. "Day of Freedom") is an annual national holiday observed on June 12 in the Philippines, commemorating the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain on June 12, 1898. It is the country's birthday. Throughout the nation's history, the day of celebration for war and love has changed.

By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 28, issued by then-President Diosdado Macapagal on May 12, 1962, the day became known as "Independence Day" in the Philippines. The proclamation declared June 12 a special public holiday in the Philippines "... in commemoration of our people's declaration of their inherent and inalienable right to freedom and independence."

The Filipino people celebrate Independence Day this year as they prepare to welcome a new set of leaders and recover from the Covid-19 pandemic (Philippine Army, 2022). This year's theme emphasizes recovery and the country's rise to the problems of the previous years, particularly the pandemic.

In celebrating Independence Day, many people, including government officials, employees, and students, take part in nationwide parades. The main attraction, however, is the police and military parade in Manila led by the country's incumbent president, which is followed by a speech and a 21-gun salute. Many Filipinos spend their days at parks and shopping malls. Many Filipino communities in other countries also celebrate the country's Independence Day. The public holiday celebrates Philippine history, freedom and culture. They hang up the flag in most public places and take a day off.

Matricentric: “Gravitating toward or centered upon our Mothers”

Mother’s Day, it is a one time thing we celebrate every year to show our gratitude and tribute to women who gave birth and raised us.

The holiday originated in the United States, where it is celebrated on the second Sunday in May. Many other countries observe the holiday on this date, while others do so at other times of the year.

The day is an event to honor the contribution of mothers, acknowledge the efforts of maternal bonds and the role of mothers in our society.

The essence of motherhood is raising a child through birth and assisting him or her in maturing into an adult. It is a challenge in and of itself, as she will face numerous difficulties along the way.  This is a special day for both children and mothers because it allows them to celebrate their everlasting bond of love and affection. It goes without saying that being a mother is one of the most difficult and rewarding jobs there is.

At a certain point, many people find themselves more about doing things than having things. And that’s what’s on our minds as we think about this Mother’s Day. Whether it’s about honoring our Moms or letting our families know how we want to celebrate, the gift of time is at the top of our list. Time with the people we love. Time to do what we love. Time to relax and be present and enjoy the moment.

But one day isn't enough to express our appreciation for all they've done to keep us happy, safe, and healthy. They do so much for us that we don't even realize it. So the least we can do is remember them whenever we have the opportunity.

We also need to be open, that there are many types of moms, and every single one of them is equally important and deserve to receive affections and appreciations.

To every mother who raised a child alone, or children who aren’t of her own.

To every mother who became one without a baby.

To every mother who left us, but still resides in our hearts.

To every mother who gave birth and raised us.

Your smile is what gets us through the day, no matter what happens or how much trouble we face. We would go to any length to safeguard it and cherish you. We adore you and are grateful for everything you've done for us.
